The University of North Carolina (UNC) has found a new way to miseducate students about Israel and the Middle East. UNC’s latest fumble comes from the new School of Civic Life and Leadership (SCiLL) via a course entitled Courageous Conversations: Israel and Palestine. School leaders held a public forum to tout their efforts.
It’s no surprise that students left the class feeling confused. The program focuses on conversation itself, in lieu of foundational knowledge and facts. Instructors are so confident in their techniques they speculated that their talents could have prevented the Holocaust.
Course leaders appear to believe that the Middle East Conflict is just another version of America’s political polarization. They’ve “found a way out” (of all conflicts) saying “our method is dialogue.” The Hamas war on Israel is presented as an issue of “two truths.” Students are told not to take sides, effectively putting Islamic jihadi terrorists on equal footing with their Israeli victims.
