While the White House has declared May Jewish Heritage Month nationally, it’s important to pass similar proclamations at the local level too. This raises visibility of the Jewish community at a time when many are in fear and prefer to be hidden. It reaffirms the extensive contributions Jews have provided to American communities, past and present. NCCI chooses to stand tall and proclaim Jewish pride. We celebrate our member’s successes in the town of Apex and Orange County.
Apex City Council declared May Jewish American Heritage month On April 28th
On April 28th, the city of Apex declared May Jewish American Heritage month. Each city council member read a portion of the proclamation to a packed audience. They provided three framed copies of the declaration (see below). Thank you to members of the Jewish community who made the effort to be there to represent our presence in, and contributions to, the Apex area. NCCI Co-founder Josh Ravitch worked with the Orange County Board of Commissioners to proclaim May Jewish American Heritage month. Special thanks to Jewish Orange County Commissioner Sally Greene for making additions to the proclamation to include concerns about antisemitism. She read aloud the proclamation in its entirety at the May 5th meeting.
