“Repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth”
We have seen how the recent avalanche of lies about “starvation in Gaza”–blamed on Israel—turned into truth for so many Americans. The Jewish people have seen this play before.
In the Middle Ages Jews were accused of ritual murder of Christian children, using their blood to make the Passover matzah. This lie was not limited to Europe, and it still exists today, having been revived in Egypt.
In 1930’s German, Nazi propaganda claimed Jews were subhuman and posed a “Judeo-Bolshevik threat” to Western culture. Hateful lies about Jews reached a fever pitch ending in the torture, starvation and death of 6 million Jews.
The modern-day blood libel claims there was a “Palestinian people” and the Jews just came along and “stole their land” to establish the modern state of Israel. This fabrication, repeated so often that many believe it, has led to the hateful and violent movement to “free Palestine”—of Jews. At the same time, Jewish history and connection to the land is actively and intentionally being erased. Islamic antisemitism and intolerance of Jews is ignored along with it.
We cannot fight against the lies if we don’t know the truth. Are you prepared to navigate discussions about Israel with facts on your side, especially as kids go back to school?
