The Jewish community was enveloped in support during the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) 2025 Summit. CUFI Founder & Chairman Pastor John Hagee shared his love for Israel and the Jewish people with clarity and inspiration. He and Christian attendees understand the biblical/historical connection between the Jewish people and the land of Israel. Powerful speakers included Harvard Alum Shabbos Kestenbaum, Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Jonathan Conricus, former hostage Yair Horn and so many more.
CUFI’s advocacy extends beyond inspiration into the realm of legislative action. The Summit leadership arranged for attendees to meet with their respective representatives and senators or their staffers about three important bills before Congress. Many NCCI members were pleased to participate.
Important bills before Congress
1. The United States-Israel Defense Partnership Act (H.R. 1299/S. 554), establishes a US-Israel cooperative program for advanced technologies such as drones, extends military qualitative superiority for the US and Israel via emerging technologies, prevents new tunnel construction and more. This bill has bipartisan support.
2. The Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025 (S. 556/HR 1422), expands sanctions against those facilitating Iran’s oil exports, predominantly China. This will help prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear program, and will limit its ability to fund terrorism against Israel. This bill also has bipartisan support.
3. The Antisemitism Awareness Act (H.R. 1007/S. 558), this bill codifies the IHRA definition of antisemitism. There is fringe opposition to the bill from far right and far left sources. They claim that the bill suppresses free speech, which is untrue. It is only considered when a law has been broken, then the definition is used to determine if antisemitism was a factor in the crime.
