NC Democratic Committee Falsely Accuses Jews and Israel of Crimes
We, the North Carolina Coalition for Israel, representing the Jewish and pro-Israel community, are appalled that the NC Democratic Committee has published a Resolutions & Platform 2022 document filled with misinformation about Jews and Israel. With little or no basis in reality, these resolutions advance one lie after another to accuse Jews and Israel of crimes that have not been committed.
Similar to antisemitic conspiracy theories leveled against Jews in 20th century Europe, these resolutions falsely depict both Jewish communities and Israel as conniving to harm non-Jewish populations. The resolutions seek to deny Jews equal rights, rejecting, for example, the right of the Jewish people to self-determination and to establish a safe haven in our historic homeland.
The wording supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, also known as BDS. While BDS is intended to destroy Israel, and is illegal in NC, it is most damaging to Jewish residents of North Carolina. In 2018 our members were targeted when Durham adopted its own BDS resolution, which used Jews and Israel as a scapegoat for presumed policing issues. The BDS proceedings not only revealed prevalent hatred of Jews in our community, but it also unleashed white supremacist propaganda.
North Carolina Democratic Party Adopts Antisemitic Resolutions
By adopting this platform, the North Carolina Democratic party is signing on to racist hatred of our state’s Jewish community.
We applaud the North Carolina Jewish Clergy Association for issuing a statement opposing these antisemitic resolutions, which reinforce age-old antisemitic stereotypes and call for an end to the sovereignty of the world’s only Jewish state.
We call on ALL the leaders of the North Carolina and National Democratic party, and ALL elected officials to condemn and rescind these resolutions.
